The purpose of the Laboratory of Environmental Technologies is to ensure the study and research processes. The laboratory provides an opportunity for bachelor's, master's and doctoral students to develop their own research. The Laboratory is equipped for studies of metal content, further equipment includes UV-VIS, fluorescence spectrometers, heating blocks and a muffle furnace, as well as a hydrocarbon analyser.

The Laboratory offers opportunities for conducting versatile research on the development and application of current environmental science themes and technologies:

  • analysis of metal content in the environment, as well as research of their complexation with organic substances;
  • assessment of Alūksne lake pollution and its distribution;
  • use of georadar for research of fens, sapropel stocks and cultural-historical evidence;
  • impact of excavated peat quarries on the fen ecosystem;
  • research into the properties of humic substances and development of applicable and operational products;
  • evaluation of the effectiveness of environmental renaturalization;
  • use of biochar to enrich agricultural land with carbon.
